Seeing need, and ending homelessness

August 11, 2021

In our rural county, having a car is often vital to ending homelessness. Benita* was living with 4 of her children in a motel when she joined Bridge of Hope. About a month after moving into an apartment she was hired at a job a mile from her house. Her job is at a factory and it pays well, but she alternates shifts, one week her job starts at 4:30 am, the next week she finishes at 2:00 am. Not the best times of day to be walking to and from work. Some days she took Uber to work, or to get groceries. There is no dependable public transportation where they live, so her Neighboring Volunteers decided to take an offering to help her purchase a car. With God’s help, they raised enough to purchase an SUV, which accommodates her children and the family’s needs!

Before she could use the car, Benita worked hard to get her driver’s license. Now her children can attend camp daily and she can also drive herself to get groceries or to appointments. Having transportation has significantly improved their way of life! Benita is so grateful to the Neighboring Volunteers and their church for seeing her need, and helping to fill it.
