To the Rescue!

Anita* is a mom in our program who faces many challenges due to past trauma and the loss of one leg from cancer, but she is a fighter and is working hard on her goal of earning her GED. She was in desperate need of a washer and dryer, washing her family’s clothes in the bathtub. Then one of our Community Board members suggested we check with Landis Homes to see if they had any washers and dryers available for a donation. They did – and as you can see in the picture, they were in great condition! Two Neighboring Volunteers (thank you Andy Gehring and Tom Baldacci!) from Lampeter Church of the Brethren, picked up the washer and dryer, delivered it to the family’s apartment and hooked them up! They even volunteered to take the broken washer and dryer with them to dispose of at no cost. What a blessing these “Neighbors” have been to Anita and her family! And a huge shout out to Landis Homes for collaborating with us by giving a simple donation that makes such a difference.
